About San Francisco Updates
About San Francisco Updates
San Francisco Updates is a small, independent guide to the city. It covers what to do, where to eat, how to get around and what is on, for visitors planning a trip and for people who live here.

Who we are
Terry Vaughn writes and edits San Francisco Updates. The guides answer the questions people ask before a trip: which day to do Alcatraz, whether the cable car is worth the wait, where to get a good burrito and what to pack for a city that can be foggy in July.
We are a small local site. We write about San Francisco the way we would talk about it with a friend, including what is worth the trip across town and what you can skip when time is short.
How we work
Every guide is researched and checked against official sources, such as transit agencies, park services and the venues themselves. San Francisco changes fast, though. Fares go up, hours shift and events move, so please check the details before you head out.
Some posts may carry ads or affiliate links. They help keep the site free to read. They don’t decide what we recommend.
